INCH Brain Industrial PC is an additional piece of equipment used to extend the load management capabilities of Etrel INCH family of charging stations.

There are two methods of connecting INCH charging station with industrial PC, through the local network:

  • Connect INCH to the industrial PC via hostname

  • Connect INCH to the industrial PC via IP address

Note: For proper operation, the firmware installed on charging station needs to be at least 3.0.0.

 

 

INCH Brain (Industrial PC information)

The industrial PC is powered by the low-power consumption Intel® Celeron processor N3350 (Formerly codename: Apollo Lake).

Proven rugged construction ensures harsh operating conditions with an extended temperature range, a wide voltage range of 12V-24V DC power input with overvoltage and reverse protection, and up to 2G vibration endurance.

The computer supports one DDR3L-1866 SO-DIMM slot with up to 8 GB of system memory. Additionally, the ICO300-83B is equipped with two full-size PCI Express Mini Card slots, one for a mSATA storage card and another for 3G/GPRS/Wi-Fi - allowing it to provide flexible communication and data transfer options for use as an IIoT gateway.

Safety Precautions

Before getting started, please read the following important safety precautions:

 

Disconnect the power cord from the ICO300 before making any installation. Be sure both the system and the external devices are turned OFF. Sudden surge of power could ruin sensitive components. Make sure the ICO300 is properly grounded.

 

Make sure the voltage of the power source is correct before connecting the equipment to the power outlet.

 

Turn OFF the system power before cleaning. Clean the system using a cloth only. Do not spray any liquid cleaner directly onto the screen.

 

Do not leave this equipment in an uncontrolled environment where the storage temperature is below -45℃ or above 85℃. It may damage the equipment.

 

Do not open the system’s back cover. If opening the cover for maintenance is a must, only a trained technician is allowed to do so. Integrated circuits on computer boards are sensitive to static electricity.

 

To avoid damaging chips from electrostatic discharge, observe the following precautions:

  • Before handling a board or integrated circuit, touch an unpainted portion of the system unit chassis for a few seconds. This will help to discharge any static electricity on your body.

  • When handling boards and components, wear a wrist-grounding strap, available from most electronic component stores.

 

Caution! Risk of explosion if battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions.

Warning! Hot Surface! Do not touch! The equipment should only be installed in a Restricted Access Area.

 

 

Cleaning

Below is a listing of items that may be needed and that can be used to clean the industrial computer:

Cloth: A piece of cloth is the best tool to use when rubbing up a component. Although paper towels or tissues can be used on most hardware as well, we still recommend you to rub it with a piece of cloth.

Water or rubbing alcohol: You may moisten a piece of cloth a bit with some water or rubbing alcohol and rub it on the computer. Unknown solvents may be harmful to the plastics parts.

Vacuum cleaner: Absorb the dust, dirt, hair, cigarette particles, and other particles out of a computer can be one of the best methods ofleaning a computer. Over time these items can restrict the airflow in a computer and cause circuitry to corrode.

Cotton swabs: Cotton swaps moistened with rubbing alcohol or water are excellent tools for wiping hard to reach areas in your keyboard, mouse, and other locations.

Foam swabs: Whenever possible it is better to use lint free swabs such as foam swabs. Note: We strongly recommended that you should shut down the system before you start to clean any single components.

NOTE: Shut down the industrial PC before cleaning.

Connect INCH to the INCH Brain Industrial PC via Hostname

Please refer to method described in the following chapter (connect INCH to industrial PC via ip address).

Connecting procedure:

Connect industrial PC to the power supply and to the ethernet network (ethernet connector 1).

 

Connect the charging station to the same ethernet network to which the industrial PC is connected.

 

Open the web interface of the charging station (MyINCH) and select path “Configuration \ Power management \ General configuration” and enable power management (check Connect this charger to the power management master. Once connected, power management features can be configured.

 

Click on the Custom DNS and enter “inch-pm” and then click on the Save button.

After waiting for 5 to 10 seconds, the cluster icon (two INCH stations) should appear at the top of the window.

 

After clicking on the cluster icon, the Cluster status window will be shown. At least two connectors should be displayed (if there are two INCH stations in the cluster).

Connect INCH TO the INDUSTRIAL PC VIA IP ADDRESS

Alternatively, to the 1st method described in the previous chapter, the charging station can be connected to the power management via an IP address.

To do this, the IPC needs to be connected to the network. After that, scanning of your network will show the results of the inch-pm hostname.

Charging station can now be connected to the to the power management of the industrial PC via IP address.

Connecting procedure:

Connect industrial PC to the power supply and to the ethernet network (ethernet connector 1).

 

Connect the station to the same ethernet network to which the industrial PC is connected.

 

Open the web interface of the charging station (MyINCH) and select path “Configuration \ Power management \ General configuration” and enable power management (check Connect this charger to the power management master. Once connected, power management features can be configured.

Click on the IPv4 address and enter the IP address of the industrial PC (in case shown above the IP is 172.25.2.174) and click on the Save button.

 

After waiting for 5 to 10 seconds, the cluster icon (two INCH stations) should appear at the top of the window.

 

After clicking on the cluster icon, the Cluster status window will be shown. At least two connectors should be displayed (if there are two INCH stations in the cluster).

In case the station does not connect to the power management immediately, the charging station should be rebooted. This can be done from the Diagnostics menu with click on Restart charger).
