How to upgrade firmware on INCH Devices

In order to upgrade firmware on INCH devices we need to follow this procedure.

First we need to connect to the INCH device. Instructions how to do it can be found here https://etrelchargingsolutions.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/Home/pages/2236514315

After connecting we must download newest firmware that can always be found here https://etrelchargingsolutions.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/Home/pages/2836398134.

All INCH firmware is split into two updates, one is system update and another one is app update.

E.G.:

inch-system-5.0.1.armv7.itb has major version 5 and includes app 5.0 and patch version 1.

inch-app-5.1.armv7.itb has major version 5 and minor version 1

System update normally updates system that INCH firmware runs on, and updates app to same version.

E.G.:

Installing inch-system-5.0.1.armv7.itb will update system to 5.0.1 (major version 5) and update app to version 5.0.

Installing inch-app-5.1.armv7.itb will update app to version 5.1 and will not update system.

Depending on current firmware installed on station you need to download correct option. If you want just to update app from 5.0 to 5.1 you just need to install inch-app-5.1.armv7.itb. And if you have, for example, firmware 4.0.4 running on your station, then you need to install inch-system-5.0.1.armv7.itb first and then inch-app-5.1.armv7.itb.

IF YOU INSTALL APP OVER LOWER MAJOR VERSION OF INCH FIRMWARE YOU MIGHT BRICK SOM MODULE AND YOU NEED TO PERFORM FACTORY RESET OF THE CHARGER.

After downloading INCH Firmware you need to go to web interface of the INCH charger. Then go into Menu → Diagnostics

After that you will be presented with Diagnostics menu. On the bottom you can see which firmware is your charger currently running, and then you need to update it accordingly.

When you want to proceed with installation of newer firmware proceed with clicking on Upgrade firmware button.

You will be presented with window asking you to point on correct update file

After update station will restart and you can then go to web interface and Diagnostics menu and confirm successful installation of newest firmware update.
