Delete Account functionality, 2024 Update

Release status: COMING in APRIL RELEASE

Introduction

We adjusted delete account functionality to eliminate possible conflicts with users regarding negative balances on their accounts. Instead of deleting users right away deletion process and responsibility is passed over to operator. Ocean only notifies operator via support ticket that user is requesting account deletion.

What is different in iOS 4.5.1 (xxx) version?

When a user deletes his account over iOS device, Ocean will do the following:

  1. If partner is using Ocean’s help desk system → create a new ticket for operator on user’s behalf saying “Please delete my account”. User will be also be blocked at that time, meaning he will no longer have the access to his account and will be logged out immediately from the app.

  2. If partner is using external help desk system → App will not show account deletion screens, but instead open external help desk URL

When a user selects to delete his account via external help desk or using Ocean’s automatic support request he will not loose access to his app account immediately and will be able to use his app as usually until operator manually deletes his account from Ocean.

How to use external help desk for account deletion?

Partners using external help desk system need to enable using external help desk for account deletion as well. If disabled, requests will be sent to Ocean’s ticketing system.

FAQs

My external help desk ticketing system is not made “by the book” to pass Apple’s review for delete account. Can I use Ocean’s system in the meantime?

Yes, you can still use your external help desk and only for delete account requests use Ocean. You can toggle this setting via the instance setting “Defines if two step user delete is managed by external helpdesk”. Enable it if you want to use Ocean’s delete account procedure (tickets are delivered in Ocean at that time) and disable it when you want to stop using it.
