Standards and references

The INCH Core charging station is designed and tested according to current and past versions of international standards. It complies with the IEC 61851 (Part 1, Part 21-2) and IEC 61439-7 international standard, which define conductive AC electric vehicle charging, and supports Mode 3 charging for safe recharging of standard electric vehicles.

The INCH Core is in compliance with:

  • Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU (RED) *

  • The Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU (LVD) *

  • The Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive 2014/30/EU (EMC) *

  • Directive on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment 2011/65/EU (RoHS)

  • Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH)

  • EU Directive on Measuring Instruments 2014/32/EU (MID) **

 * When the charging station contains radio device, it falls under the rules of Radio Equipment Directive (RED) and Low Voltage Directive (LVD) and Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (EMC) should not be written on the EU Declaration of Conformity. However, with fulfilment of the RED directive, also requirements of LVD and EMC are covered.
** When MID meter is integrated in the charging station.

The charging station was tested by an accredited third-party laboratory. The performed tests cover all the requirements of the standards listed in the table below.

IEC 61851-1:2017 (EN IEC 61851-1: 2019)

Electric vehicle conductive charging system – Part 1: General requirements.

IEC 61851-21-2:2018

Electric vehicle conductive charging system – Part 21-2: Electric vehicle requirements for conductive connection to an AC/DC supply - EMC requirements for off board electric vehicle charging systems
This standard  is not harmonized and therefore the EMC aspect needs to be checked with the ETSI standards listed in this table.

ETSI EN 301 489-1 V2.2.3

ElectroMagnetic Compatibility (EMC) standard for radio equipment and services – Part 1: Common technical requirements; Harmonised Standard for ElectroMagnetic Compatibility

ETSI EN 301 489-17 V3.2.4

ElectroMagnetic Compatibility (EMC) standard for radio equipment and services – Part 17: Specific conditions for Broadband Data Transmission Systems;Harmonised Standard for ElectroMagnetic Compatibility.

ETSI EN 301 489-52 V1.2.1

ElectroMagnetic Compatibility (EMC) standard for radio equipment and services – Part 52: Specific conditions for Cellular Communication User Equipment (UE) radio and ancillary equipment; Harmonised Standard for ElectroMagnetic Compatibility.

ETSI EN 301 489-3 V2.3.2

ElectroMagnetic Compatibility (EMC) standard for radio equipment and services – Part 3: Specific conditions for Short Range Devices (SRD) operating on frequencies between 9kHz and 246 GHz; Harmonised Standard for ElectroMagnetic Compatibility.

EN 60529:1991 + A1:2000 + A2:2013

Degrees of protection provided by enclosures (IP Code), 1991; Amendment 1, 2000; Amendment 2, 2013

EN 62262:2002

Degrees of protection provided by enclosures for electrical equipment against external mechanical impacts (IK code).

IEC 62196-1:2022

Plugs, socket-outlets, vehicle connectors and vehicle inlets – Conductive charging of electric vehicles – Part 1: General requirements.

IEC 62196-2:2022

Plugs, socket-outlets, vehicle connectors and vehicle inlets – Conductive charging of electric vehicles – Part 2: Dimensional compatibility requirements for AC pin and contact-tube accessories.

IEC 62196-3:2022

Plugs, socket-outlets, vehicle connectors and vehicle inlets – Conductive charging of electric vehicles – Part 3: Dimensional compatibility requirements for DC and AC/DC pin and contact-tube vehicle couplers.
The IEC 62196 family of standards cannot be used to test the entire charging station. Compliance with these standards is guaranteed if the cable or socket is certified.

IEC 60364-7-722:2018

Low-voltage electrical installations – Part 7-722: Requirements for special installations or locations – Supplies for electric vehicles.

IEC 61439-7:2022
